...Or 'A Bit of History'...

Oxford and Oxfordshire have a long and proud history of gender non-conforming individuals – probably going well back before the famous appearance of ‘Lady Stella Clinton’ and ‘Miss Fanny Winifred Park’ (also known as Ernest Boulton and Frederick William Park) at the Oxford and Cambridge boat race in April 1870.

Some of our members used to belong to a transgender group meeting in Oxford in the 1990s. However, this group’s disbandment left many of the local transgender people for some years with the nearest support groups in Swindon and Reading. Their relative distance prevented some of the Oxfordshire residents from attending their meeting, leaving them without the necessary communication and support.

In 2015, TransOxford was created in order to assist them with that.
